Tim graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Butler University. He achieved his juris doctorate, cum laude, from the Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis, where he became the executive notes editor of the Indiana Law Review and his student note was chosen for publication. During law school, Tim also became an Executive Board Member and Civil Procedure classroom tutor for the Dean's Tutorial Society, as Secretary of the International Human Rights Law Association and as a representative member of the Student Government Association.

Before joining Arnholt & Staggs Law Office, Tim served as a solo practitioner focusing on motions and appellate law, and he served as a judicial clerk to the Hon. Nancy J. Vaidik on the Indiana Court of Appeals. While still in law school, Tim served as a judicial intern for the Hon. William H. Lawrence of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, where he worked mainly on federal appeals of Social Security disability cases. Before law school, Tim served as a case manager for mentally ill adults, often helping his clients in a nonlegal capacity when they applied for disability benefits.

Tim is permitted to practice law in the State of Indiana and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA), the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Bartholomew County Bar Association, and he is also a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR).
